starting a conversation

This week I did chapter 2 lesson 1 on Lingvano - the app that I found last week. For this week, I decided to show you what I see on my screen and then show myself doing what I learn each step of the way. I have really come to like this app as it is a great visual and easy to follow along. 

I found chapter two to be more challenging than chapter one as this week in the app I am learning to start a conversation. There is more signing in this and as you can see during the quiz I got a couple wrong. I noticed on the ones that I got wrong the ASL signs are so similar and I was not watching facial expressions which leads me to my next point. When signing I did not realize how important it is to use facial expressions as it shows how you are feeling and what you are saying just like you do when you are verbally talking. This is something that I need to clearly work on as when I am signing I am normally focusing on what sign to do, not my facial expressions. 

This week I continued to use CapCut to edit my video and I really like that this app lets me add more than one video so that my video could go back and forth from the app to myself learning ASL. I did like videoing myself learning this week as it keeps me more accountable to trying new signs that I am learning after I watch it. I will continue to use this app and do the chapters each week to keep learning more skills and more ways to communicate with my student I have this year that is deaf. I am starting to feel more comfortable using ASL but still have a long way to go!
